On Monday 4 May 2015 at 3.00 pm Simon will be performing at Halifax Minster. His recital includes works by Fricker, Thalben-Ball, Elgar, Schumann, Brewer, Wolstenholme, Grace, Jackson and Sibelius. Tickets, at £8, may be purchased at the door. Refreshments will be served.
It will be hard to imagine the Choir without Valerie as Secretary and it is important that we acknowledge with much gratitude her long period of service has seen us through thick and thin and some hugely fulfilling musical experiences en route.
Her attention to detail, the relationships she has nurtured with our host churches and on one very memorable occasion with the Victoria Theatre have been of huge assistance to the smooth running of the Choir and each and every one of us is profoundly grateful to her.
She has pestered the (sometimes) reluctant staff of the “Courier” into publicising our events and supporting us generally; she has sought out sponsors and encouraged them to contribute towards our marginal costs. She has written countless thankyou letters and no concert ever goes by without a cheery and appreciative email from her.
Above all, perhaps, she has been fun to work with. Perhaps that’s the secret. We have all benefited from what she has brought to us for so long.
