Kathie Rhodes – choir obituary

The choir was very sad to learn of Kathie’s death on 3 May
2019.

Kathie joined the choir ten years ago and has been a loyal
and regular singer in the alto section since.

In 2016, she became membership secretary and took her duties
and her role as a committee member very seriously. Kathie was fastidious in
keeping membership records up to date and looking after new members, providing
them with information about the choir and any items they needed.

Kathie was diagnosed with lung cancer around eighteen months ago and fought this bravely and silently for some months. She wanted no fuss and initially only told choir members for whom she felt there may be some impact as a result of her treatment.

Kathie was a valued committee member and has made many
astute observations and offered appropriate suggestions and advice during her
years on the committee.  Her quiet and
calm approach was very much appreciated as was her sense of humour.

Kathie was always ready to help with any extra jobs that
arose and did much in a wholly unassuming and efficient way behind the scenes.

Kathie will always be remembered for all her varied contributions
to Overgate Hospice Choir and as  a true
friend and colleague.

Members of the choir were honoured to be accorded the privilege
of singing at Kathie’s thanksgiving service at Parkwood.

Our love and thoughts go to her family and close friends at
this time.
