Overgate Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults in the Calderdale area. All patients have a life-limiting, advanced, progressive illness.
The Hospice building is located in Elland, near Halifax and was opened in 1981. There are 12 specialist palliative care beds in the Inpatient Unit and care reaches out into the community through the Day Hospice provision and Specialist Advice Service.
The Choir was founded in 1991 with the purpose of raising money for Overgate Hospice, Elland, West Yorkshire. Over £325,000 has been raised for the hospice since the first performance was held.
There are over 80 mixed voices in the choir which performs four concerts a year of music from the popular choral repertoire along with Opera Choruses and Songs from the Shows as well as Christmas Carols and Hymns. The Musical Director is Dr Simon Lindley (see www.simonlindley.org.uk) and the accompanist Alan Horsey.
The choir are all volunteers and pay a subscription fee which covers their rehearsal costs to ensure that as much money as possible returns to the hospice.
Overgate Hospice Choir is a local organisation raising money for a wonderful cause. It has an excellent choral reputation in Yorkshire and also a proven track record of successful performances and fundraising.
We are seeking sponsorship for individual performances of our annual Concert Season. Publicity is tailored to suit sponsors’ requirements and we’ll ensure organisations are prominently credited.
Total costs for a production are in the region of £1500 – £2000. The choir would be very happy to discuss individual sponsorship arrangements.
